Humble house in desperate need of a renovation hits the market in South Townsville

House with a face only a renovator could love is expected to be VERY hot property when it goes under the hammer – but what’s with the bizarre ‘windows’ on the front?

  • Two-bedroom home in need of renovating in South Townsville has hit the market
  • Real estate agents say the humble home has received a lot of interest already
  • It’s close to town’s stadium and CBD, and is believed to be around 100-years-old

One of Australia’s more modest homes has hit the market – and it’s just begging for a makeover.

The two-bedroom cottage on Fifth Avenue in South Townsville, north-east Queensland offers a ‘large’ bedroom and kitchen but not much else.

Described as a renovator’s dream, the home is believed to be around 100 years old and even comes with its own sleepout area adjacent to the back.

Harcourts Kingsberry agent Sam Musemeci said the house has already received an overwhelming amount of interest.

‘We had a fair bit of interest pre-market and have gotten even more recently especially from wannabe fixer-uppers,’ he told Daily Mail Australia.

‘I’m a bit concerned about the open house on the weekend, I’m probably going to be inundated.’

He said potential buyers are both looking at renovating the home or knocking it down completely and starting from scratch.

‘The ones that see vision have certainly showed interest in what they could do to it,’ he said.

‘It’s a blank canvas for those wanting to restore it to its full glory. It’s a project that will require a lot of imagination and elbow grease.’

One of the 502sqm property’s best features is its location just walking distance from the new Queensland Country Bank Stadium and the city’s CBD.

It’s also very close to the boat ramp so it’s a perfect place to settle down for those who love to get out on the water.

Mr Musemeci said the previous owners had planned to renovate the house themselves but their circumstances changed and they’ve since put it on the market.

‘You have to look past the skin of the home to see what’s behind it but it could be beautiful,’ he said.

‘It’s one of those ones you really can have fun with.’

The Fifth Avenue home will go on auction on June 19.
