The Weakest Link plummets in the television ratings as viewers reveal what annoys them the most about the recently rebooted game show

The Weakest Link has continued to lose viewers just a week after its premiere on Channel Nine.

According to a report by The Australian on Wednesday, the recently revived game show lost over 123,000 in its second week.

The show’s second episode brought in just 300,000 metro viewers across the country’s five major capitals.

Tuesday’s episode failed to land in the night’s top 20 viewed programs, dropping down to number 26.

Overall, The Weakest Link has lost 29 per cent of its viewers since its premiere episode on May 25.

The show was originally set to air on May 4, but was pushed back to later in the month, with Channel Nine claiming a ‘tight production schedule’ was to blame.

Comedy actress Magda Szubanski has taken on the role of host in the rebooted series, and has so far attracted a lot of criticism.

But the biggest issue for many viewers appears to be the echo sound effect that’s played every time Magda, 60, says: ‘The Weakest Link’.

‘They could immediately make the Weakest Link better by dropping the awful echo effect on Magda’s voice,’ tweeted one disgruntled viewer.

‘I like watching #theweakestlinkau but is the echo necessary every single bloody time @MagdaSzubanski says “the weakest link”???’ complained another.

Wrote one person: ‘Hope the producers of #WeakestLinkAU have already figured out that they need to scrap the echo when Magda says “The Weakest Link”‘.

Other complaints around the show include the often cringeworthy attempts at humour and the structure of the game itself.
