Aldi issues recall of its £1.15 breaded chicken goujons amid fears they may contain salmonella

Aldi has warned customers not to eat some chicken goujons that have been sold by the store after salmonella was detected in one of its products.

The supermarket giant has warned shoppers not to eat the product and return it to the nearest store, where a full refund will be given. 

Two batches of the Roosters Breaded Chicken Goujons 320g pack, costing £1.15, are being removed from stores and recalled due to the possible presence of salmonella.

Salmonella can be harmful and symptoms usually include an upset stomach, diarrhoea, fever and abdominal cramps.

Aldi said ‘Our supplier is recalling this product due to the possible presence of salmonella.

‘Customers are advised not to eat this product.

‘Customers are advised to return this product to the nearest store, where a full refund will be given.

‘We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your co-operation.’

The Government’s Food Standards Agency watchdog said ‘Aldi is recalling the product.

‘Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling this product.

‘These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.

‘Our advice to consumers – if you have bought the above product do not eat it.

‘Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.’
