Retired footy star Luke Burgess has started a new career – as a ride share driver.

Burgess, 34, who played for the South Sydney Rabbitohs and Manly Sea Eagles in the NRL, confirmed his new employment behind the wheel with DiDi – a direct competitor to Uber.

‘I signed up a couple of weeks ago,’ Burgess told the Daily Telegraph after he was recently spotted zooming around picking up customers in his BMW X5 across Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

‘I enjoy driving and I enjoy chatting with people. It’s better than sitting around doing nothing.’

Burgess isn’t just ferrying around passengers across the Harbour City when he feels like it.

He runs the 4B clothing brand – a premium label clothing company he and his three brothers Sam, George and Tom Burgess launched in 2020.

The ex-prop forward also quipped that he tells ‘all his passengers’ about the growing clothing label and that he has snared ‘a few good sales’ when chatting to star-struck punters.

On Saturday night, Burgess was out at Stadium Australia in Sydney’s west, entertaining corporate figures in his club ambassador role when the Rabbitohs thumped the Parramatta Eels 38-20 during the NRL’s Indigenous Round.

Burgess made his name with Leeds Rhinos in the English Super League, winning a title in 2009.

He then moved out to Australia ahead of the 2011 NRL season, signing a deal alongside his three siblings – Sam as well as twins, George and Tom – at South Sydney.

Next up he defected to Manly, spending two campaigns with the Sea Eagles in 2015 and 2016, before retiring from the sport two years later when on the books of Salford.

Burgess has a six-year-old daughter, Grace Luca, who he co-parents with his ex-girlfriend, model Yolanda Hodgson.

The English born retired footy player, is said to be in a current relationship with Tori May, also briefly dated British beauty Lindsey Johnson and product developer Arianna Vidgen.

Luke is the oldest of the four Burgess brothers.
