‘A big job’: Kate Hudson is ‘shocked’ to learn her Fool’s Gold co-star Matthew McConaughey might run for Governor of Texas

She starred with Matthew McConaughey in How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days and Fool’s Gold.

But Kate Hudson had no idea the actor is toying with a run for political office, and considering throwing his hat into the ring to be the next Governor of Texas.

‘This is really shocking to me,’ she told Rob Lowe during an appearance on his Literally! podcast on Wednesday.

Hadn’t heard the news: Kate Hudson confessed to being ‘shocked’ to learn that her sometime co-star Matthew McConaughey may be considering running to be governor of Texas

Hudson, 47, was caught unawares when Lowe, 57, asked her if she would help her sometime co-star with his gubernatorial campaign.

‘That was a long pause,’ Lowe said as she seemed lost for words. ‘Can I just say for the record, that was a very long pause.’

‘I have not heard this. This is the first I’m hearing of McConaughey getting into politics,’ Hudson responded.

'You probably wouldn't get a politician who would care as much as he does, you know? I think he's very authentic... but the governor of Texas is a big job,' she observed (pictured in 2003)

Nevertheless, she seemed approving of McConaughey’s political ambitions.

‘I actually feel like he’d have a real chance,’ Hudson added.

McConaughey, who lives in Austin, Texas, with his family, has publicly said a run for Texas governor in 2022 is a ‘true consideration.’

And Politico reported earlier this month that the star has been making calls ‘to   influential people in Texas political circles, including a deep-pocketed moderate Republican and energy CEO.’
