Gogglebox’s Amy Tapper wishes parents Jonathan and Nikki a happy silver 25th anniversary

The Tappers were one of the original families to appear on Channel 4’s Gogglebox.

And, while they may have left the show much to viewers’ dismay in 2018, they are still keeping fans up to date with their life on social media.

Daughter Amy Tapper, 21, congratulated her parents Jonathan, 53, and Nikki, 48, on their silver 25th wedding anniversary in her Instagram Stories on Thursday.

The television star shared an array of happy family photographs in which she can be smiling with her parents.

She wrote: ‘Happy 25th wedding anniversary to my favourite people in the world.

‘Thank you for everything but most importantly for making me – the perfect 50/50 mixture of the both of you.

‘Can’t wait to celebrate! Love you both more than anything else in the world.’

Amy, who quit Gogglebox in 2018 and went on to take part in Celebs Go Dating, shared pictures of her mother and father over the years in which they can be seen on holiday, out for dinner and at parties.

She also posted a snap of the decorations bought to mark the occasion after filling a room with silver trinkets.

Beautiful balloons could be seen on the ceiling with photographs of the couple hanging down. And the number 25 sat in the middle to mark the big day.

Also taking to Instagram on Thursday, Nikki expressed her love for her husband Jonathan.

She wrote: ‘Wow 25 Years!!! Happy Silver Wedding anniversary to us! I cannot quite believe where the years have gone and honestly seems like yesterday that I said Yes!

‘Jonathan Tapper I knew were a “keeper” from the minute we met and I count my blessings everyday and feel so lucky and privileged to be sharing this wonderful journey of life with you my side and of course our beautiful Josh and Amy.

‘You still always make me feel special and have the ability to always make me laugh (well most of the time!) and I can’t wait to make so many more memories together in only good health always.

‘Here’s to many more years of “us” love you always and forever.’

Amy’s brother Josh was absent from her celebratory posts after he bowed out of the spotlight in 2017.

The family rose to fame on Gogglebox in 2013 but he departed the programme to embark on a political career.

Josh landed a place on the Government Communications Apprenticeship graduate scheme but quit his Downing Street role before going travelling with his girlfriend Hannah Sterman in 2019.

When Josh left the Channel 4 show the door was left open for him to return but he opted to keep a lower profile than the rest of his family.

Amy and their parents then followed suit and in January last year it emerged the Tappers had no plans to return to Gogglebox.

A source told the Daily Star at the time: ‘The Tapper family was part of Gogglebox for five years and they loved it. But they don’t have any plans to return. They have moved on

‘They have some exciting things in the pipeline that they want to focus on.’

The news came after Jonathan was struck down with coronavirus and was left seriously unwell after the whole family caught the illness.

Nikki told the Daily Star: ‘One night Jonathan came home from work and was unable to move. He had a cough and high temperature. He laid down on the sofa and – with no exaggeration – he stayed there for two weeks in our lounge room.

‘We tended to him as best we could, but at times he seemed unable to breathe. Having spoken to the doctors, they urged us to stay home, but they said to quickly get an oxygen monitor, which fixed to his finger.

Jonathan was at risk due to his age and underlying health conditions but has made a recovery.
