Bachelorette alum Jason Tartick was offered $100,000 to be the next Bachelor

Bachelorette vet Jason Tartick was offered $100,000 to be the Bachelor while fan favorite Dean Unglert was given a $75,000 contract to be the next leading man.

In an interview on Jason’s new podcast Trading Secrets, the men discussed the salaries offered to contestants appearing on Bachelor In Paradise, Bachelor Winter Games, and even as the lead of the shows.

Dean, 30, revealed he negotiated his daily pay rate on Bachelor In Paradise from $400 to $600 because he was such a hot commodity after appearing on Rachel Lindsay’s season of The Bachelorette.

‘They hit me up and they’re like, “Hey, do you want to do Bachelor in Paradise? This other show that pays $400 bucks a day? You could be there for up to like 30 days, something like that,”‘ he said on the podcast.

Saddled down with $25,000 debt and having not made any income after appearing on Rachel’s season for some time, Dean was up for the opportunity.

‘I was like, “Oh yeah, great. $400 bucks a day, 30 days, $12,000. That’s fantastic.”‘

But that changed once friends started telling him how desirable he really was, and Dean decided to ask for more money from the show.

‘I start talking to some friends and they’re like, well, “You should get more money because … you’re going to be, like, the guy they want most from your season [to] go to Paradise minus, like, Peter [Kraus].”‘

He countered with $800, and ultimately settled for $600.

‘I just had wanted them to pay, could have been $1 more, you know, [out of] principle,’ he said. ‘I wanted them to pay me more than they were offering everybody else.’

Though he didn’t find lasting love on Paradise, he did on Bachelor Winter Games with Lesley Murphy, where he was paid $400 a day. They left the show a couple and ultimately split.

Dean appeared again on Bachelor In Paradise, but after getting slammed for being involved in a love triangle his last time on the show, requested $20,000 an episode, an amount he acknowledged was ‘absurd.’

‘When I said it too, I was, like, so vindicated. I was like, “They’re not going to get me for a dollar less than what I need,”‘ Dean explained. ‘And then eventually as time wore on, I was like, you know what, screw it. I think I went down for like $602.’

Dean was even offered to be the next Bachelor for $75,000.

Initially the star was reluctant to appear, but agreed to do it. The role ultimately went to Arie Luyendyk Jr.
