Channel 10 ‘secretly commission’ new season of Celebrity MasterChef… and you’ll never guess who’s on their wish list to appear on it

More rumours have emerged that Celebrity MasterChef will be making a comeback to Network 10.

According to a report by The Australian on Monday, the network is looking to revive Celebrity MasterChef after last year’s Junior MasterChef delivered poor ratings.

The Australian claimed Network 10 ‘secretly commissioned’ another season of Celebrity MasterChef last month, with the series set to air at the end of the year.

The show is currently in the casting stages of production, with filming set to begin in just a few weeks.

And high on their wish list to appear is model Lara Worthington (née Bingle) and former Minister for Foreign Affairs Julie Bishop.

Casting producers are also reportedly chasing sports stars, local politicians and Hollywood actors currently based in Australia.

Speaking with TV Tonight in February, 10’s Head of Programming Daniel Monaghan said last year’s Junior MasterChef had been a ‘one-off’.

‘I don’t think that we’ll say we’ll never do Junior again, but it’s not slated for this year,’ he said at the time.

‘We will have something else at the back end where Junior was sitting – TBC in terms of announcements.’

Celebrity MasterChef last aired on Network 10 back in 2009, and featured celebrities including Michelle Bridges, Rachael Finch, Josh Thomas, Kirk Pengilly, Alex Perry, and winner Eamon Sullivan.

Rumours first emerged in April that 10 was planning on reviving the series, with New Idea reporting that the show had received ‘the go-ahead’.

According to New Idea, MasterChef judges Andy Allen, Melissa Leong and Jock Zonfrillo will also front Celebrity MasterChef, and ‘producers are working hard to develop an A-list line-up of potential contestants’.

Meanwhile, Jock, 44, hinted that Celebrity MasterChef would be returning during a radio interview with The Fifi, Fev & Byron Show in September last year.

‘You can apply for the Celebrity MasterChef,’ he told radio host Byron Cooke after he enquired if there was a show he could appear on.

Daily Mail Australia has reached out to Network 10 for comment.
