TOWIE’s Clelia Theodorou hints dates on the show are set-up

TOWIE star Clelia Theodorou has hinted that dates on the ITVBe show are set up.

The reality star, 26, spoke to FUBAR Radio’s Bobby Norris and Stephen Leng about her experience dating co-star Rem Larue, 27,  and recalled ‘sweating’ with nerves over producers’ inputs into their outings.

Clelia told how she tried her best to get to know Rem and said their dates ‘couldn’t have been more real’, but was left confused when the show’s producers stepped in with their ideas on how the dates should play out.

Spilling the beans: TOWIE star Clelia Theodorou has hinted that dates on the ITVBe show are set up

Making the surprise admission that show bosses play a hand in orchestrating their meetings, she detailed how she was left baffled at how to act on her date when producers stepped in.

She explained: ‘I was trying to get to know Rem, and like it was so, it couldn’t have been any more real.

‘So I was sweating, like watching everyone watching. And when we’d have our little breaks, they’re like, “Oh this is so cute!” And you’re like, “Do you want the date to be cute? Do you want it to be funny? What do you want it to be like?”‘

However, her co-star Bobby, 34, was quick to clarify that things are very much real, as he and Clelia went on to discuss the show’s disclaimer heard at the beginning of each episode which states that whilst some of the scenes may be set up, the people are all real – with things slightly jazzed up for the viewers’ entertainment.

He said: ‘That disclaimer confuses some people sometimes. Because even still, after 10 years, people will go to me in Sainsbury’s or wherever, “But how fake is it”’ Or, “How much is real?”

‘No, it is real. And they are like, “But we know you get a script.” And I’m like, “No! We have no script”. I almost wish we did!’

With Clelia quick to agree, adding: ‘Yeah! That’s what I say. I say, “I wish I had a script because it’d be a lot easier from what I actually want to say”… Plus we’d be getting paid more. We’d be actors!’

Meanwhile, after her last dating scenes involved Dan Edgar, Clelia admitted that it was ‘strange’ dating again in front of cameras, though she added: ‘I felt like I could be myself because I’m so used to being on the show.’

She went on: ‘I felt like for me it was quite easy, but maybe for Rem [Larue] being new, it might’ve been a bit more difficult, but I quite enjoyed it, to be fair.’

Confused: 'When we’d have our little breaks, they're like, "Oh this is so cute!" And you're like, "Do you want the date to be cute? Do you want it to be funny? What do you want it to be like?"'

The stunner has had quite an eventful season on the show, what with her failed romance with Rem and their subsequent fall-out after he reacted badly to her dumping him.

She also had an explosive showdown with Amber Turner, in which she branded the blonde a ‘rude b****h’ in the heat of the argument.

The pair came to blows in front of their co-stars when they started shouting at each other during the Easter egg hunt party before Clelia stormed off.

TOWIE continues Sunday at 9pm on ITVBe.
