A proud mother who shared a letter her five-year-old daughter wrote to a drinks manufacturer asking them to ban plastic straws has revealed she received cruel comments for trolls who accused her of faking the viral post.

Aimii Bishop, from Reading, Berkshire explained her daughter Juno, five, wrote a letter to a drinks manufacturer after seeing their address on the side of her carton.

Posting on Facebook’s  Family Lockdown Tips & Ideas,  she said Juno had been complaining about the use of plastic straws and their impact on the environment for a long time.

Many responses to the post praised the five-year-old’s passion for activism, however others said they were in disbelief that Juno penned the note.

Sharing the note, Aimii wrote: ‘Does anyone else have a budding activist?! My five-year-old has been complaining about these straws for ages, so I told her to complain to them.

‘She found the address on the side of the carton and wrote this. Just hoping she gets something back!’

Juno’s note reads: ‘Dear Sir/Madam, I am angry that you put plastic straws on the smoothies that we drink.

A flood of responses compared Juno’s handwriting to their own child of the same age, with many admitting they don’t believe she penned the letter.

Alongside laughing emojis, one person wrote: ‘LOL okay sure a five-year-old wrote that’

‘Yep I have a five year old and there’s no way she could spell like that. Plus I have five kids and my second was really advanced and was a free reader by six but she still couldn’t have wrote all that,’ another said.

A third added: ‘Think someone’s having us on!’

Another wrote: ‘That’s a five-year-old’s handwriting? Wow! My 11-year-old has only been getting taught joined up writing for the last couple of years at school! My five- year-old can’t write a sentence yet. I’m impressed.’

A flood of responses said they're five year old wouldn't be able to write an activist letter and admitted they're skeptical that the note was written by Juno

However, others blasted those commenting on Juno’s handwriting and praised her for being passionate about a cause.

One person said: ‘I can’t believe the amount of people that are criticising here. This is a five year old who is conscious about their environment. So what if there is sugar in the drink. So what if there are larger concerns than plastic straws.

‘At 5, this child is passionate about something that is meaningful to them and that is fantastic! Well done, what an amazing, passionate letter! I really hope she gets a response!’

Another wrote: ‘Totally agree. In shock reading some of the nasty comments. When my son was five his writing was lovely too and still is now. Why the hate? She’s just a proud mum’
