Jake Edwards has revealed it was difficult to be separated from his family for several months while filming Married At First Sight last year.

Speaking exclusively to Daily Mail Australia on Saturday, the 31-year-old said it was tough being in Sydney, filming an intense reality series without support.

‘I didn’t get to spend time with my mum and I’m very close with my family. I’ve very much a mummy’s boy, it was extremely tough,’ he said.

‘I’ve got a background in mental illness and it’s all about being able to manage it.’

Jake explained, ‘Not having access to my family – and not being able to just jump into a car and head out to the farm, to sit down with my family and talk about how things were going was hard.’

Melbourne, where Jake is from, was plunged into lockdown for almost six months, with Victorians unable to travel interstate for at least 111 days.
