Police arrest boy, 14, for knifing another 14-year-old who was found with serious stab wound in Cheshire town last night

A 14-year-old boy has been arrested after another boy, 14, was stabbed in a Cheshire town.

The teenager was found with a serious stab wound on Dean Row Road, Winslow, just after 9.30pm last night.

He was taken to Manchester Children’s Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition, police said.  His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. 

Police arrested a 14-year-old boy near to the scene on suspicion of wounding.

The boy is from Stockport, Cheshire Police confirmed.  He is currently in police custody where he is being quizzed by detectives.

A police cordon was in place on Dean Row Road after the incident last night.

An eyewitness said a car park next to a nearby Tesco Express was taped off. 

Police are now appealing for anyone with information about this ‘extremely rare’ incident to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Cameron Mair said: ‘Enquiries in relation to this incident are ongoing and we are committed to doing all we can to establish exactly what has taken place.

‘As part of our investigation we are urging anyone who was in the area and witnessed the incident, or anything else that may aid our investigation, to get in touch.

‘The same goes for anyone with any CCTV or dashcam footage that may be relevant to our investigation.’

Chief Inspector David Moores, head of Macclesfield Local Policing Unit, added: ‘This type of incident is extremely rare in the Wilmslow area and I understand the concern that it is likely to cause.

‘I’d like to reassure the public that patrols are being stepped up in the area and anyone with any concerns should approach an officer. 

‘I would also urge anyone with any information in relation to the incident to get in touch.’
