Stacey Dooley reveals she and her boyfriend Kevin Clifton ‘so dull’

Stacey Dooley has poked fun at the lack of interest in her romance with Strictly’s Kevin Clifton – insisting they are ‘so dull’ after being together for two years.

The television presenter, 34, spoke about her relationship and how she suffers with imposter syndrome in her career which chatting on Monday’s Loose Women.

The media personality touched upon the heightened interest in her love life after she appeared on Strictly Come Dancing in 2018, where they found love and then joked about the dwindled attention their union now receives.

So dull: Stacey Dooley revealed she and Kevin Clifton, who she has been in a relationship with for two years, are ‘so dull’ as she appeared on Monday’s episode of Loose Women

She was partnered with Kevin, 38, and the pair went on to win the show together.

The pair went public with their romance in early 2019 after the show had wrapped and just weeks after her split from her boyfriend of three years, Sam Tucknott.

Speaking about the focus on her relationship, she said: ‘I did [struggle] initially, I did at the start. I didn’t realise there would be such an interest, particularly with who I fancy and who I’m dating. I thought that was dull for everyone else.’

But now she has revealed that the interest in the couple has dwindled two years on, saying: ‘Now, Kev and I have been together for two years, so no one’s really that fussed anymore, and we’re so dull’.

During the television appearance, Stacey also admitted she often suffers with imposter syndrome at work.

She said: ‘I’m riddled most of the time with imposter syndrome. Then you have to remind yourself if they didn’t think you were capable, they wouldn’t have you in…

‘I’m always really thankful for that. I love my job, I love what I do for a living. I feel really lucky.’

Her words come as the second series of Stacey Sleeps Over, where she spends 72 hours as a guest in an unusual UK home aiming to get to the bottom of her hosts’ family lives, is aired tonight on UKTV’s W channel at 10pm.

As part of the series Stacey spent time with ‘trad wives’, who prioritise traditional domesticity over career ambitions.

She explained: ‘It was really interesting. We’re coming from totally opposite ends of the spectrum, but in essence that’s what the series is about.

‘It’s really important and really healthy to have conversations with people you don’t gravitate towards naturally. We’re probably more polarised than we’ve ever been. Rational, respectful debate is worthwhile.’

Speaking about her relationship with Kevin last month, she admitted she won’t tie the knot to the thrice-married former Strictly star as she joked ‘he’d divorce me in a heartbeat’.

‘I don’t want to find myself totally reliant on a man’, the broadcaster said as she spoke to members of a community called Tradwives – women who ditch their careers in a bid to become traditional housewives.

The media personality – who was joined by Felipe and his spouse Lillian as they marked 10 years of marriage – detailed her stance on marriage, sharing: ‘Kev and I have been together for two years. I don’t think I want to get married.

‘I think I’d be more interested in starting a family than getting married. I can’t think of anything worse than being a Tradwife. I would be useless, completely and utterly useless. He’d divorce me in a heartbeat.’
