Cameron Daddo says he and wife model Alison ‘were unaware of the level of interest’ surrounding them

Cameron Daddo reflects on his 30-year marriage to model Alison Brahe and says the pair ‘were unaware’ of the public interest when they married in 1991 after just three months of dating

Cameron Daddo and his model wife Alison Brahe were the Australia’s power couple of the early 1990s.

And on Saturday, the actor, 55, revealed to The Daily Telegraph they were so loved up and unaware of the spectacle surrounding them when they married in 1991.

Cameron, who was just 24 when he tied the knot with a then-21-year-old Allison after three months of dating, said: ‘Honestly, I think we were in a bit of a bubble in those early years.’

‘Maybe we were a bit naïve, but at the time I just remember falling madly in love and just going about our business and truly not being aware of the level of interest that, apparently, there was in us,’ he added.

The former Home and Away star noted that they were then further removed from the Australian entertainment industry when they moved to Los Angeles in 1992.

It was only on their return to Australia in 2017 with their children that the couple were ‘getting a sense’ of the interest in them almost three decades ago.

The couple, who now have three children – daughters Lotus and Bodhi Faith and son River, are now the hosts of a relationship podcast Separate Bathrooms.

Cameron explained that he and Alison discuss all the nitty gritty aspects of a marriage – after almost three decades together.

He said: ‘We’re all about honesty. Because I think if you can be open about the struggles then anyone else going through the same thing can relate to it and instantly realise “Hey, I’m not alone in this”.’

Cameron and Alison celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary last year and each shared tributes to each other to mark the special occasion.

Alison shared the couple’s sweet wedding photo, and said in the caption: ‘Thank you for an incredible ride so far. Here’s to another 29 years. Love you so.’

Meanwhile, Cameron wrote: ‘Twenty-Nine years!! Thank you my love @alidaddo … here’s to having a sense of frickin’ humour, a big wise beating heart and a whole smashing dollop of curious! I love you.

‘And thank the heavens for our three champion kids who’ve made the ride even more special!’ he added.

Alison noted that they had to go through a ‘hell of a lot of work’ before they could finally reach a happy place.

‘I was the one who left the marriage,’ Cameron told Woman’s Day, clarifying that he had been unfaithful, not Alison.
