Martin Scorsese, 78, becomes a TikTok star playing game guessing feminine products

He is one of the most prolific film directors in American cinema, and now Martin Scorsese can add ‘TikTok sensation’ to his impressive resume.

The 78-year-old Taxi Driver director became a viral hit on Wednesday, after his daughter Francesca Scorsese, 21, posted a video of him having to guess the name of certain ‘feminine products’ including a scrunchie, bobby pin and hair donut.

‘I will probably regret posting this but…. he actually did much better than I thought!’ Francesca – who is star of HBO’s coming-of-age drama We Are Who We Are – captioned the clip on the video-sharing service. 

‘Having my dad guess feminine items pt.1’ read the text across the video, as Scorsese looked slightly dumfounded as he began to play along, with the the instrumental track Tomfoolery from SpongeBob SquarePants playing in the background. 

When a picture of a menstrual cup flashed up on screen, the Oscar-winner incorrectly guessed ‘an eye cup’ and said two nipple pasties were ‘ear buds.’ 

Trying to guess the hair donut, used to style your hair into a bun, Marty guessed that it was ‘some kind of weird pillow.’ 

The hilarious clip quickly became a talking point among TikTok viewers, who were perhaps surprised to see the director appear on the service. 

Meanwhile, when she’s not getting her father on TikTok, Francesca has been busying herself co-creating the drama We Are Who We Are. 

The impressive cast includes Chloë Sevigny, Jack Dylan Grazer, Alice Braga, Jordan Kristine Seamón, Spence Moore II, and Scott Mescudi.

The series premiered on September 14, 2020, on HBO in the United States and on October 9, 2020, on Sky Atlantic in Italy.
