A young minke whale has washed up on a British beach sparking a frantic mission to refloat her.
The one year old was found stranded in Dalgety Bay, Fife, this morning after being separated from its mother.
The coastguard, Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and experts from the British Divers Marine have teamed together to form a plan.

Spotters have been sent out to look for the parent whale as hopes remain high she is still in the area
The beach has been cordoned off as rescuers say ‘there is a real worry’ the whale won’t survive if the baby’s mother doesn’t return.
One of the team told the Courier: ‘ It’s a concern as the whale is very young indeed, certainly we estimate to be less than a year old which it would be still fully dependent on its mother for milk and security.’
Spotters have been sent out to look for the parent whale as hopes remain high she is still in the area.
Paul Smith, another member of the rescue team, said they were holding the baby in shallow water so it could build up its strength.
He said it currently looked like it could ‘sadly go either way’.
