Cheryl ‘is set to land her own radio show after being inundated with offers from stations’

Cheryl is reportedly set to land her own radio show after being ‘inundated with offers’ from several stations.

The Girls Aloud singer, 37, already has lots of TV presenting experience from her work on The X Factor and The Greatest Dancer.

An industry source told The Sun: ‘Cheryl has been inundated with several offers to do a radio show and Global are very eager.

‘It would be an exciting new step for her in her career… Global are super keen to sign her and know she would add real star quality.’

But another source told the publication that although Cheryl has been approached by several places, if something happens ‘it might not be with them [Global]’.

If Cheryl does sign with Global, which boasts stations such as Capital FM, Heart, Smooth and Gold, she would be joining a star-studded line-up of presenters including Amanda Holden, Kelly Brook, Marvin Humes and Myleene Klass.

MailOnline has contacted Cheryl’s representative and Global for a comment.

The next few months seem to be shaping up to be busy ones for Cheryl as earlier this year she was tipped for a return to The X Factor when it returns to screens in 2022.

The singer quit the singing competition in 2016 to focus on her own music career but did make a few guest appearances after stepping down from the panel and also judged on another of Simon Cowell’s shows, The Greatest Dancer.

An insider said the star could be set for a TV comeback, telling The Mirror: ‘Cheryl is still very much in the Cowell fold. She trusts him and he enjoys working with her.

‘He brought her back on TV with The Greatest Dancer and could do the same with the new series of X Factor.’

MailOnline contacted Cheryl and The X Factor’s representatives for a comment at the time of publication.

Cheryl left the show in 2016. She first took part back in 2008 and has mentored two winners, Alexandra Burke and Joe McElderry.

The star, who shares her four-year-old son Bear with former X Factor star and One Direction member Liam Payne, did also leave the UK version in 2011 to appear on the US version however she returned to the British show for series 11 and 12.

In April 2016 Cheryl confirmed she had quit The X Factor in order to focus on her music career, telling MailOnline that her boss Simon supported her completely.

She said: ‘I have had such an amazing experience being a judge on The X Factor. I have learnt so much and enjoyed nurturing talent but I’ve missed making music and am excited to be recording again.

‘I want to thank everybody I have worked with along the way, especially Simon who I love to bits. I hope the show continues to produce stars and I wish them all the best.’

Since leaving The X Factor, Cheryl has appeared on The Greatest Dancer, however the BBC show only ran for two seasons and ended in 2019.

It is thought that The X Factor will return next year, after filming amid the pandemic made it impossible to create a 2021 series.

The new claims about Cheryl potentially landing a radio show also come after Liam Payne revealed he is ‘closer than ever’ to his ex.

The former One Direction singer, 27, has praised the Fight For This Love hitmaker for being ‘the best person’ to raise a child with and said he has a ‘really lovely’ relationship with her and their son Bear, 4.

Liam also revealed that and Cheryl spend ‘a lot’ of time chatting to each other on FaceTime while they raise Bear together, and their relationship is ‘very relaxed.’

Liam – who is now engaged to Maya Henry – told Glamour: ‘Cheryl is literally the best person to co-parent with. No stress involved. It’s very, very relaxed, and we spend a lot of time on FaceTime.

‘And it’s been really lovely, and I’m closer to them than I’ve ever been before, actually, which is really, really nice. But bedtime FaceTime can go really well sometimes.

‘Or I bought him some toys yesterday that I showed them on the FaceTime and it was like I had to go and travel over and hand the toys over the fence!’

Liam and Cheryl split back in July 2018, just 16 months after welcoming their son Bear, but the pair have remained on friendly terms.
