Huge fire breaks out on freight train near Sevenoaks in Kent as services are cancelled while firefighters tackle blaze

  • Kent Fire and Rescue Service urged people in area to close windows and doors
  • All trains between Orpington and Sevenoaks have been suspended due to blaze
  • It is not known if there have been any injuries caused by the fire 

A huge fire has broken on a freight train near Sevenoaks in Kent today as services are cancelled while firefighters try to contain the blaze.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service has urged people in the area to close windows and doors due to the smoke plume, and to avoid the area if possible.

Smoke has been seen billowing in the sky in Dunton Green. It is not known if there have been any injuries. 

Disruption to train services is expected to last until at least 12pm after all trains between Orpington and Sevenoaks were suspended. Rail replacement buses continue to operate.
