Guy Sebastian’s former manager Titus Day is set to face trial next year

Guy Sebastian’s former manager Titus Day will appear before court next year after he was accused of embezzlement.

According to a report by The Daily Telegraph on Friday, the 48-year-old will go on trial in May 2021 amid allegations he embezzled royalties and performance fees from the singer.

He was mentioned in Downing Centre District Court on Friday after police accused him of stealing over $1million from Guy, 39, between 2013 and 2020.

Judge Warwick Hunt set the trial date for May 2, 2022, with an expected duration of four weeks.

Day was arrested last year, with police alleging that he was ‘calculating’ in deciding what money to keep and what to hand over while working as Guy’s manager.

Police claimed that Guy had entrusted Day to manage his income while they worked together.

An overseas company called Premier Muzik allegedly made over 20 payments into a ‘trust account’ for Guy’s services between 2015 and this year.

Despite this, it is alleged that the former Australian Idol winner only received five of the payments.

The celebrity agent was hit with 61 charges in July last year, after Guy accused him of defrauding him of a staggering $1.15million.

The allegations were made after their professional relationship spectacularly imploded in 2017.

Speaking about the ordeal in a sit-down interview with SBS program The Feed in October, Guy reflected on why his rift with Titus was particularly painful.

‘Management relationship, it’s very unique. You have to bare all of your weaknesses and warts and all for them to effectively manage you,’ he explained.

Guy shares sons Hudson, nine, and Archie, seven, with his wife of 13 years, Jules, while Titus has three children with his wife, Courtney, a former Sony executive.

‘It was such a great thing that we had going. I’m just confused by it all, if I’m being honest,’ he continued.

He left Titus’ 6 Degrees agency in November 2017, and claims he is owed $200,000 over alleged breach of contract, as well as performance and other fees, the Sydney Morning Herald reported in September last year.

Meanwhile, Titus, whose agency went into liquidation in July 2019, says he is owed $800,000 by the singer and his stylist wife, Jules.

‘What we are owed is still being calculated but I estimate between Guy, his wife and the Sebastian Foundation, 6 Degrees is owed $800,000,’ he told The Daily Telegraph in August 2018.

Guy parted ways with his longtime manager during an ’emotional meeting’ in November 2017.

The successful duo had worked together since 2005, two years after Guy triumphed as winner of Australian Idol.
