He is currently starring on the Italian reality TV show L’Isola dei Famosi. 

And Paul Gascoigne appeared to be in great spirits despite having to wear an arm brace as he reaches day 29 on the programme. 

The football legend, 53, sported the support for his dislocated shoulder as he had an animated chat with castmates Simone Paciello, Gilles Rocca and Andrea Cerioli.

Making sure to continue his recovery Paul sat with his sling in place, which was wrapped around his neck and over his dark T-shirt. 

According to sources, the sports legend will face ‘mental challenges’ as his injury has forced him out of competing in physical games for the remaining duration of the competition. 

On how he’ll participate in the series, a source told The Sun: ‘He can’t do anything physical for at least two weeks, but the aim is for him to be mentally challenged.

‘We are looking at some Italian ­language tests or maybe arithmetic or geography questions.’ MailOnline has contacted Paul’s representatives for further comment.

The TV star made a return to the show last month after he was rushed to the hospital when he injured himself during an endurance game. 

Paul recently revealed he would be willing to return to the programme despite his accident. 

At the time, the former Lazio player said he is ‘quite good’ and added that his shoulder is ‘so, so’ as the presenter Ilary Blasi asked for updates on his health condition. 

The media personality is reportedly being paid around 7,000 euros (£5,981) for each week he is taking part in the show.

According to the newspaper Il Messaggero, he signed a contract for the weekly fee alongside actress Vera Gemma, actor Brando Giorgi, former Italian Strictly star Giles Rocca and actor Roberto Ciufoli.

TV presenter Elisa Isoardi is reportedly the contestant who has signed for the highest weekly wag at, 15,000 euros (£12,816). 

The show is believed to be shot on a remote desert island Cayos Cochinos in Honduras, in Central America.

Paul’s co-stars include actors Gilles Rocca, Simone Paciello, Vera Gemma, Akshay Kumar, Roberto Ciufoli, Angela Melillo and Francesca Lodo. 

There is also DJ Daniela Martani, business owner Ferdinando Guglielmotti, model Drusilla Gucci and presenter Elisa Isoardi. 

Other stars involved in the series are actor Brando Giorgi, actress Valentina Persia and presenter Beppe Braida.
