Dua Lipa joins David Walliams to rehearse for Elton John’s Oscar pre-party

Dua Lipa and David Walliams were spotted making their way to a London hotel to rehearse their participation in Sir Elton John’s Oscar pre-party on Thursday.

With COVID-19 restrictions forcing Elton, 74, to switch from hosting his annual soirée in West Hollywood, the musician recruited the stars to help shoot a presentation to be shared virtually in the hours leading up to April 25th’s Oscars.

Levitating hitmaker Dua, 25, cut a chic figure as she arrived at the Rosewood London in a striped dark blazer, which she teamed with a purple blouse and cropped jeans.

Standing tall in lilac platform heels, the brunette beauty wore her raven locks in loose curls with a centre parting while she kept her makeup light and natural.

Keeping herself hydrated with a bottle of Evan water, the London-born star adhered to COVID-19 safety precautions by donning a protective face mask.

She was joined by comedian David, who sported a navy blazer over a blue shirt as he made his arrival and had his temperature checked ahead of entering the building. 

Handlers were seen taking his clothes for the big show out of the back of a car in a garment bag as he prepared to participate in the show. 

Once rehearsals were complete, Dua took to her Instagram account to share a snap of herself posing with I’m Still Standing rocker Elton.

Sharing her excitement at being in the presence of the award-winning star, he wrote in the accompanying caption: ‘Look who I finally met today in rehearsals!!!

‘I’m so excited and honoured to be performing at #EJAFOscars on 25th April with @eltonjohn in support of the amazing work that @EJAF is doing to help young people all over the world who are living with or at risk of HIV.’

She continued: ‘I was shocked to learn that there are 1,600 new cases of HIV in young people every single day so please join me in raising awareness so that we can end HIV stigma together! Go on my story and swipe up for tickets.’

Posting the same shot on his own Instagram account, Elton wrote: ‘Rehearsals done! I’m so happy to have finally met the incredibly talented @dualipa today for our #EJAFOscars rehearsal. We’ll be doing an exclusive duet performance on April 25.

Meanwhile, David kept things a tad more cryptic on his Instagram account, as he looked dapper in his classic tuxedo while posing with an adorable pooch as he wrote: ‘All dressed up and nowhere to go.’

Elton’s pre-Oscar party, which will be hosted by actor Neil Patrick Harris, will benefit the Elton John AIDS Foundation and is regularly co-presented by the legendary musician’s husband David Furnish, 58.

Last year, Elton raised an incredible $6.4 million to help end the AIDS epidemic at his annual Academy Awards viewing party. 

Oscar winner Elton – who picked up the Best Original Song prize for I’m Gonna Love Me Again from the Rocketman soundtrack – was joined by a host of famous faces including Heidi Klum and Sharon Stone. 

The Foundation’s Academy Awards Viewing Party benefits the Elton John AIDS Foundation raising millions for their lifesaving work since the party began in 1992.

It works across four continents to provide treatment, testing, care and support to people at risk of or living with HIV, especially marginalised groups that are disproportionately affected. 

Celebrated musician Elton has won a Tony Award and five Grammys, and only needs an Emmy to join the elite clubs of EGOTs.
