Sunrise’s Edwina Bartholomew gets candid on adapting to motherhood after welcoming daughter Molly, one – and recalls how she almost MISSED her baby’s first steps

She’s one of the busiest women in showbiz, juggling her role as a newsreader on Sunrise with being a mother to her adorable one-year-old daughter Molly.

And in a column penned for The Courier Mail on Thursday, Edwina Bartholomew got candid on adapting to motherhood.

The 37-year-old, who welcomed Molly with husband Neil Varcoe in December 2019, recalled nearly missing her baby’s first steps and the changes to her personal space.

‘We’re in another arena entirely now’: Sunrise’s Edwina Bartholomew (pictured), 37, got candid on adapting to motherhood after welcoming daughter Molly, one, in her column for The Courier Mail on Thursday

Edwina admitted that she got comfortable with Molly taking ‘a bit longer’ to find her feet, and was shocked to have almost missed her walk for the first time this week.

‘Naturally, I was chatting on a WhatsApp video call to a friend in London and almost missed it. Parent of the Year, here,’ she mused.

Edwina explained how it wasn’t a case of discouraging Molly to walk, but rather feeling a little terrified by remarks that other parents would often make.

The Channel Seven star added that with her daughter now walking, she’s in ‘another arena entirely now’ with changes to the ‘boundaries around personal space’.

‘Mid-shower yesterday, Molly sauntered in with a bubble-blowing wand so I could continue with the 24/7 entertainment while simultaneously trying to get out the door. What a joy,’ she said.
