Pip Edwards shuts down questions about her romance with Michael Clarke

Pip Edwards shuts down questions about rekindling her romance with Michael Clarke – as she blasts ‘vacuous’ Instagram culture

Pip Edwards has rarely been out of the headlines over the past year, mainly due to her on-again, off-again relationship with retired Australian cricket captain Michael Clarke.

But the P.E Nation founder, 40, firmly refused to answer questions about the pair’s romance during an interview with The Daily Telegraph on Friday.

The journalist who conducted the interview noted that Pip ‘wouldn’t be drawn on her relationship status’ – despite reports she and Michael, also 40, are back on following their split in January.

While talk of her love life was strictly off limits, the fashion designer was happy to wax lyrical about the perils of ‘vacuous’ Instagram culture.

Pip, a prolific social media user herself, said: ‘In a fast-paced world that’s highly influenced by social media, the perception that success, glamour and lifestyle is what it’s all about actually breaks my heart.

‘The want and need through the social landscape to chase this whirlwind success and fame is completely vacuous.’

Pip, who designed for brands General Pants Co. and Ksubi before co-founding P.E Nation, said she was proud of her achievements after two decades in the fashion business, adding that she’d ‘created a very unique career path’ for herself.

Longtime friends Pip and Michael started dating in late 2019, after the sportsman ended his marriage to his wife of seven years, Kyle Clarke (née Boldy).

Their romance didn’t become public knowledge, however, until after the Clarkes’ confirmed their separation in February last year.

Michael and Pip downplayed the rumours for months – with Pip even insisting they were ‘just friends – before finally going public in July while on holiday in Noosa.

However, they ended things just six months later, in January.

While that seemed like the end of things, the pair were spotted last week dining together in Potts Point, Sydney, sparking rumours of a reconciliation.

Neither Michael nor Pip has confirmed they are back on, but a source close to the pair said they were ‘close friends’.
