Move over Chris and Zac! Netflix announces a new reality TV show called Byron Baes that will follow local influencers in the celebrity hub…and you’ll never guess who is tipped to star in the series

Netflix has announced that they’re set to release an original and new reality series based on Byron Bay influencers. 

The announcement was made on Thursday and revealed that the show will aptly be called, Byron Baes. 

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, The Block star and model Elyse Knowles is ‘hotly tipped’ to star on the show.

The publication added that the series will run for eight episodes in total. 

Netflix’s director of content for Australia and New Zealand, Que Minh Luu, giving the show the green light was a ‘no brainer.’

‘You’ve got this cabal, or live feed as we’ve been calling it, of Instagrammers, who all live up in Byron, and there are a lot of them,’ Que told the publication.

She added that the show will follow the influencers in their everyday lives and it won’t be a show that shames influencers and their culture. 

‘I’m not going to judge anyone for having a product to sell. Musicians have music to sell. I have ideas to sell,’ she said. 

In a press release for the show, it says that Byron Baes is a ‘docu-soap series’.

‘This is our love letter to Byron Bay,’ it reads. 

‘It’s not just Chris and Zac’s backyard, it’s the playground of more celebrity-adjacent-adjacent influencers that you can poke a selfie-stick at.’

It also promises ‘fights, flings and heartbreak.’

The show will be produced by Eureka Productions and Emma Lamb, who is known for Married At First Sight and The Real Housewives of Sydney will be the executive producer. 

In recent months, Byron Bay has become a celebrity hub thanks to Chris Hemsworth and wife Elsa Pataky building a $30million mansion in the area. 

And due to Covid-19, a number of stars have been in Byron Bay for filming, including Melissa McCarthy,  Bobby Cannavale and Nicole Kidman. 

Zac Efron has also been based in Byron Bay in recent months.
