Just after HBO announced a month-long celebration of Game of Thrones ahead of the show’s 10th Anniversary, the network released a new trailer for the show’s eighth and final season, and fans are not terribly happy.
The show, on the whole, is widely considered a massive success, earning 59 Emmy Awards, the most of any show, including Outstanding Drama Series in 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019, though the final season was quite divisive among fans.
The new trailer (via Game of Thrones YouTube) revealed a number of the final season’s most iconic moments, filled with SPOILERS for those who aren’t caught up with the show, and many fans chimed in to express their distaste.

The trailer was released on Tuesday, amassing just under 30K views, but the discrepancy between love and hate is clear in the likes and dislikes alone.
The video – which recaps several of the key moments from the final season – received over 1K likes… but over 2.7K dislikes.
While many fans praised the show within the extensive comments section, many others expressed their displeasure with the final season, many of whom had loved the show before the final six episodes.

While there is no indication HBO would ever actually remake the final season of Game of Thrones, The Hollywood Reporter lays out one possibility.
Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin has still not finished the final two books in his novel series, which are said to have much different endings for many of the characters.
