Married At First Sight’s Brett Helling reveals the REAL reason he and bride Booka Nile decided to split

Brett Helling has detailed the real reason for his split with Married At First Sight  bride Booka Nile.

The 31-year-old told Nine that the pair had ‘tunnel vision’ while on the show, and realised their relationship would not last in the outside world.

‘Booka and I were hanging out one day and we were just having a chat about life and all kinds of things. I think we both just came to the realisation that it wasn’t something we wanted to pursue outside of the experiment,’ he said.

Won’t make it: Brett Helling (pictured) has detailed the real reason for his split with Married At First Sight bride Booka Nile. The 31-year-old told Nine that the pair had ‘tunnel vision’ while on the show, and realised their relationship would not last in the outside world

He added: ‘When you’re in that environment you are focused on one another so much you kind of get this tunnel vision and you forget about what’s going back home. We just realised that it wasn’t meant to be.’

Brett added that he felt the way the pair gracefully handled leaving the program was a testament to their, ‘maturity and good character.’

The comments come after Booka and Brett’s marriage came to an explosive end during Monday night’s final commitment ceremony.

The former couple agreed their relationship had come to a natural end after a drama-filled season, viewers applauded their ability to walk away from the relationship respectfully.

Sitting in front of the show’s love experts, Booka revealed that she had voted to ‘leave’ the experiment, but had nothing but respect for Brett.

‘I’ve written ‘leave’. But it’s a smiley face and a love heart, because Brett’s a legend. But I don’t know. I feel like that romantic side of things had kind of gone,’ she said.

Brett agreed with Booka’s decision to leave the show, and said he was also opting out of the experiment.

‘We put a lot of effort into this, and we learnt things about ourselves and… I’ve chosen to leave,’ he added.

Although their decision upset many of the show’s other participants, Booka and Brett insisted they were still friends.

‘I did come here to find love, and even though it was really hard at times and I felt sad, I do want you to be in my life,’ Booka told an agreeable Brett.

She added: ‘We have this awesome bond because of this experiment. And no one could ever take that away from us.’
