Atlanta season 3 is FINALLY in production as Donald Glover shares snap with cast from set… after near THREE YEAR hiatus
It has been nearly three years to the day since the season 2 finale of Atlanta.
And after scheduling conflicts, production, delays, and even a global pandemic the next season of the beloved series finally seems to be underway.
Donald Glover took to Instagram on Friday to confirm that season 3 of Atlanta is in production.

The 37-year-old actor posted a screenshot of himself with the three other members of the main cast of the show: Lakeith Stanfield, Zazie Beetz, and Brian Tyree Henry.
He captioned the image to his 3.8 million fans: ‘”Day 0″ S3 ATL.’
This comes after several delays as the third season had originally been announced on June 18 and planned for a premiere sometime in 2019.
However due to scheduling conflicts including Glover starring in the live action Lion King remake production had been delayed even more.

In August 2019, even with zero of season 3 filmed FX renewed the drama series for a fourth season.
They also announced that seasons 3 and 4 would be filming in early 2020 with each one consisting of eight episodes each.
In Janury 2020, the episode count for season 3 was increased to ten and would be released in January 2021 with season 4 premiering later that year.
However production was once again delayed in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Glover’s post indicates that production has begun on the series as locations for filming include London, Amsterdam and Paris.
The series is one of the most critically-acclaimed in recent years as it earned the Golden Globe for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy in 2017.
Glover was also recognized individually as he also earned Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy that year.
In 2017, he earned multiple Primetime Emmy Awards including Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series.
The three other actors have also found major success since the premiere of Atlanta including Lakeith Stanfield who is currently nominated for an Academy Award in the Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role category for his role in Judas And The Black Messiah.
