Michelle Bridges has opened up about the difficulties of being a single mother.

The 50-year-old spoke about raising her son Axel, five, while speaking to The Daily Telegraph this week.

Michelle made a point of saying Axel goes ‘everywhere’ with her, with her also trying to instill important values in him.

‘You’re going to be thinking about the kind of human that you want them to be the person that you want them to be in society.

‘How they hold themselves and take care of their community and be kind and considerate and empathic and show compassion.’

Michelle has stepped out of the spotlight after what she described as a ‘tough’ year last year.

In December, she reflected on the trying times included received a drink driving charge and split from partner Steve ‘Commando’ Willis.

‘Funny old year this one. So many people are saying ‘get outta here 2020!’ And man this year,’ she wrote on Instagram.

‘But if I dig deep. This year has been a gift. I now see everything I am grateful for. The lessons on how I wish to be treated and how I will not,’ she continued.

‘To love and love deeply those who stand firmly in my corner. And to be joyful, silly, inquisitive, kind, still, open, protective, believe and love.’

She also added: ‘Thank you 2020. It’s been tough. But I got the message.’

They began dating in 2015, after splitting from their respective partners, and the pair welcomed son Axel in December that year.

‘It’s been a challenging year for me there’s no question about that and I’m so grateful for the people around me, my close friends and my close family,’ she told Morning Show hosts Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies in May.

The single-mother added: ‘If you want to talk about real worth, then you look around at the people that are there for you during the good, the bad, the ugly.’
