Scarlett Johansson confronts the demons of her past in the newly released trailer for Black Widow

A new trailer for the upcoming superhero film Black Widow was released on Marvel Entertainment’s official YouTube channel on Saturday.

The clip shows Scarlett Johansson’s character confronting her tumultuous past and mending her old relationships, all while being pursued by an unstoppable villain.

The forthcoming feature was helmed by Berlin Syndrome director Cate Shortland and chronologically takes place after the events of Captain America: Civil War.

Major release: On Saturday, a new trailer for the upcoming superhero movie Black Widow made its debut on Marvel Entertainment’s official YouTube channel

The trailer begins with Black Widow, also known as Natasha Romanoff, disembarking a train in her native Russia and walking through her old haunts while remarking, ‘you don’t know everything about me…I’ve lived a lot of lives.’

A series of clips from older entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe are shown while the superheroine is heard recalling that she had a difficult time ‘choosing between what the world wants you to be and what you are.’

After the 36-year-old actress is seen infiltrating a snowy military base, the scene changes to her childhood, where she is portrayed by Ever Anderson; it was also revealed that her typically red hair was dyed bright blue in her younger years.

The older version of the character then makes her way into an abandoned house where she comes face-to-face with Yelena Belova, played by Florence Pugh, and Johansson notes that the two ‘have unfinished business.’

Multiple scenes from a tense chase are shown before Johansson and Pugh’s characters begin fighting in an empty kitchen, with the latter being slammed into a cabinet.

The scene then changes to an office, where Dreykov, portrayed by Ray Winstone, speaks to the nonverbal Taskmaster, and instructs his henchman to bring the  Avenger ‘home.’

Afterward, Romanoff and Belova become embroiled in a car chase, and when the former instructs her younger counterpart to buckle up, Pugh’s character remarks, ‘you’re such a mom.’

After Romanoff and Belova escape from a crumbling refinery, the silent henchman confronts the Avenger on a falling solar panel as she says, ‘One thing’s for sure: I’m done running from my past.’

The trailer’s debut comes two days after the actress made a surprise appearance on RuPaul’s Drag Race.

The show’s contestants were asked to head to the work room for a video conference and were blindsided when they found themselves speaking to the performer.

Johansson expressed that she was happy to be featured on the show and that ‘it’s been a dream of mine to participate for a long, long time, so this is really exciting for me.’

She then gave the contestants advice about how to make their performances realistic when working in over-the-top situations.

‘Acting’s all about making a situation that’s unreal feel very real…the most important thing is that you have a lot of conviction…if you don’t believe in your own self, then no one in the audience is going to believe you,’ she said.
