Deborah Mailman and Rachel Griffiths filming scenes for season two of political drama Total Control

Deborah Mailman and Rachel Griffiths are back at work on the set of their political drama Total Control. 

The actresses were on set in Sydney in late February, the pair relaxing on a balcony in between takes. 

Rachel, 52, was dressed in character, her normally blonde hair dyed blonde for the role.

The actress wore a cream coloured cardigan with pearl buttons, and matching slacks. 

She added some gold accessories, including a necklace and retro watch, and hoop earrings. 

Rachel chatted to a staffer on the balcony, at times in deep conversation, and at other times bursting into laughter as the pair spoke.

Deborah, 48, was also dressed as her character, wearing a light jacket in a soft caramel tone. 

The actress added a matching long skirt in a similar colour, and a pair of simple earrings. 

She appeared to be running lines with a crew member, and carried a script with her as she and Rachel headed back inside.

Keeping things casual as she had a breather outside, Deborah wore flip flops and drank from a water bottle. 

The star previously revealed she was nervous about ‘driving the arc from beginning to end’ in the ABC show, despite over two decades of experience.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, she said: ‘I did feel a bit more pressure this time round as in if I didn’t get it right, then the whole show goes to s*** pretty much.’

‘I did feel more pressure than I’ve ever felt before but having said that I loved every second of being on set all day every day,’ she added. 

Deborah plays the role of a politician named Alex in the series, who fights for rights to improve conditions for her community.   

She said the show brings attention to issues including indigenous land rights in an ‘interesting and entertaining way.’
