Christopher Meloni teases his reunion with Mariska Hargitay on Law & Order: Organized Crime is ‘going to be a process’

Law & Order: SVU fans will be glued to their TV screens Thursday night as Elliot Stabler reunites with Oliva Benson for a crime investigation after a gap of 12 years.

Actors Christopher Meloni and Mariska Hargitay star in a special two-hour crossover event to launch Meloni’s new vehicle Law & Order: Organized Crime.

But, Meloni warned in an interview with TVLine, the reunion of Stabler and Benson is not going to be exactly smooth.

He’s back: Christopher Meloni returns to the Law & Order franchise with a special two-hour crossover event for new show Organized Crime with Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay

‘Well, this is what I think about that: No one’s going to be satisfied,’ Meloni, 59,  told the outlet.

‘I mean, it’s such a long time. It is so many unanswered questions. I think there’s such a great sense of abandonment and betrayal and a what-the-f–k-ed-ness of it all, that, you know…. it’s going to be a process, right?’

Meloni walked away from the Dick Wolf procedural in  2011 after 12 seasons on the drama.

Hargitay, 57, remained on the show and is now starring in a record-breaking 22nd season, with her character having risen through the ranks to head up the Special Victims Unit squad.

Complicated: 'Well, this is what I think about that: No one’s going to be satisfied,' Meloni, 59, told TVLine about his character Elliot Stabler's reunion with Hargitay's Olivia Benson

The first teaser for the crossover event dropped at the end of February and showed Stabler surprising Benson with his appearance at a crime scene.

The teaser opens with a flashback to 2011, with a woman asking Benson, ‘Are you and Stabler good partners?’

Benson replies: ‘We’ve worked together a long time. I can anticipate what he’s thinking, what he’s gonna do. Yeah, we have a great rapport.’

The action shifts to the office of Captain Donald Cragen (played by Dann Florek) at Benson’s precinct.

‘Elliot put his papers in,’ he says, sounding defeated as emotion clouds Benson’s face. ‘There was nothing I could do.’

Police officers are seen milling about a crime scene near a burned-out car with an ambulance ready nearby.

Benson is overcome with emotion due to something at the crime scene.

‘Liv!’ shouts her older partner off screen, and Olivia turns dramatically to face him as her eyes begin to well up.

‘Elliot!’ she gasps as the teaser comes to an end.
