‘I felt so vulnerable; not to mention being phoneless in a big city I’d just moved to, which made me feel even more helpless.’

Laura added: ‘A few months later, I was on the phone (a new one) as I came out of King’s Cross train station. I could hear the wheels of a bicycle behind me.

‘A guy reached out and grabbed my phone. I screamed: “Not f***ing today, pal.”

‘I ran after him for what felt like minutes but was probably only seconds and grabbed the phone back to his utter surprise.’

Laura and comedian husband Iain Stirling are expecting their first child together after tying the knot in a secret ceremony last November.

ITV’s Lorraine Kelly accidentally revealed the gender of their baby to the nation during a recent live interview.

The broadcaster, 61, let slip that the blonde is set to welcome a daughter, noting that the mother-to-be will likely want to pass advice on to her ‘baby girl’.

To which Laura, slightly taken aback, replied: ‘Well, my baby… yes,’ as she and Iain had been yet to confirm the gender of their unborn child.

However, the presenter confirmed her baby’s gender in an excerpt from her new self-help book, No One Can Change Your Life Except for You.

She said: ‘As I finish this book, it doesn’t end at chapter nine, there’s a new chapter coming into my life – in the form of a baby girl currently growing inside me and that scares the s**t out of me.’

The media personality has documented her pregnancy on social media and previously said she is due in ‘early 2021’.

Last month, the former MTV star revealed she has no plans to give up working when she becomes a mother.

The model told how her mother Carmel having a child ‘out of wedlock’ in 1980s Ireland taught her ‘there’s nothing you can’t do’.

Speaking to The Telegraph, she said: ‘All my friends from school are doctors or teachers. The fact that I even thought it was possible to go off and work at MTV came from my mum because her attitude was: “If you want to, then why not?”

‘When people ask if I’m going to give up work this year because of the baby, I’m like, “Why? Mum did it in ’80s Ireland!”‘
