‘One of them is like a f***ing jacket potato’: Danny Dyer reveals he has to have surgery on his testicles after suffering from swelling

Danny Dyer has revealed he needs to have surgery on one of his testicles after swelling caused by hydrocele has led one to look like a ‘f***ing jacket potato’.

The EastEnders star, 43, spoke candidly about his health concerns in a chat with Rylan Clark-Neal on his Spotify podcast Sorted With The Dyers on Tuesday.

Reflecting on the procedures he feels he needs, Danny said: ‘I’m thinking about having a bit of laser (eye) surgery but the other thing I’ve got to get done is my b*****k. I’ve got a massive b*****k, it’s called a hydrocele.

‘Basically one of them is like a f***ing jacket potato. For real. It’s one big b**l. So I’ve got the biggest b*****k in the world and the smallest b*****k in the world.

‘If it’s a cold day then my winkle looks like a little slug lying on an apple. That’s going to be the priority.’

Hydrocele is a type of swelling in the scrotum that occurs when fluid collects in the thin sheath surrounding a testicle.

Danny explained that he will undergo hydroelectomy to repair the condition, and he hopes to get medical assistance later in the year when the NHS is no longer strained by the coronavirus crisis.

WHAT IS A HYDROCELE?

A type of swelling in the scrotum that occurs when fluid collects in the thin sheath surrounding a testicle.

Hydrocele is common in newborns, affecting around 10 per cent, and usually disappears without treatment by age one.

Older boys and adult men can develop a hydrocele due to inflammation or injury within the scrotum.

A hydrocele usually isn’t painful or harmful and might not need any treatment.

Usually, the only indication of a hydrocele is a painless swelling of one or both testicles.

Adult men with a hydrocele might experience discomfort from the heaviness of a swollen scrotum.

Pain generally increases with the size of the inflammation.

See your doctor if you or your child experiences scrotal swelling.

It’s important to rule out other causes of the swelling that might require treatment.

Get immediate medical treatment if you or your child develops sudden, severe scrotal pain or swelling, especially within several hours of an injury to the scrotum.

These signs and symptoms can occur with a number of conditions, including blocked blood flow in a twisted testicle (testicular torsion).

Testicular torsion must be treated within hours of the beginning of signs and symptoms to save the testicle.

Speaking on the Made By Mammas podcast she said: ‘My dad didn’t realise [he would be so emotional about being a granddad].

‘He has been so emotional around Santiago, the other day he was really crying,

‘He went: “I love babies, but your baby. I have never felt anything like it. I didn’t think I’d feel like this”.

‘He hasn’t experienced being a grandad yet, I made him a first time grandad. It has hit him more now.

‘He did see me pregnant and getting bigger but seeing me with the baby, it’s like, “this is real now”.’

According to Dani, she decided to keep her pregnancy to herself until the scan when she revealed the exciting news to her father.

She added: ‘I think sometimes you talk about planning for a baby, but I am always quite secretive and keep things to myself.

‘It wasn’t that we weren’t planning, I didn’t want to tell my mum straight away but I did. I didn’t want to tell dad until the scan.’
