Rebecca Zemek admits ‘most people think MAFS is a documentary rather than a real TV show’

Is Married At First Sight fake? Rebecca Zemek reveals if the show is real in candid interview and reflects on her own ‘villainous’ portrayal

Rebecca Zemek has claimed most viewers think Channel Nine’s Married At First Sight is a ‘documentary rather than a real show’.

The Perth business manager told Today Extra on Monday, fans don’t believe MAFS is ‘real’ as she reflected on her portrayal on the show.

‘It’s hard to watch back. I think there is a lot of people out there that think this is a documentary rather than a TV show,’ the 27-year-old said.

‘So I think there are certain things that have been portrayed completely out of whack and I feel for a few of the contestants right now.’

Beck went on to say it’s important for the participants to reflect on their behaviour and ‘grow from it’.

‘However if you’re not going to take it with a pinch of salt and reflect on things then you are not really going to grow from it.’

She continued: ‘Watching back I think you can only reflect on what did happen and go from that.’

During the interview, Beck also spoke about her feud with ‘villain’ Bryce Ruthven.

She labelled Bryce, 31, an ’emotional manipulator’ after witnessing him hurt his wife Melissa Rawson’s feelings at Sunday’s commitment ceremony.

‘I still can’t quite make sense of [his actions],’ Beck said.

‘I think someone is being a bit of an emotional manipulator and playing a bit of a victim at this stage,’ she added.

Beck was then asked if she was a ‘bully’, after Bryce described her as one following her commentary about his relationship with Melissa.

‘That word, I think it was very rich coming from someone who had been telling his wife she didn’t have blonde hair and blue eyes like he needed,’ she said.

‘I think Bryce was in a situation where I had called him out and I was only speaking my truth on how I felt,’ she added.
