MAFS villain Bryce Ruthven’s LinkedIn reveals his latest gig is in sports commentary

He’s been a lightning rod for controversy ever since Married At First Sight’s eighth season debuted last month.

But that doesn’t seem to have to have completely derailed Bryce Ruthven’s media career, with the 31-year-old radio announcer’s LinkedIn profile showing he’s currently employed as a commentator for Football Victoria.

The same résumé also revealed the reality TV star once worked as an actor, citing ‘guest roles’ on Home and Away, All Saints and Stupid, Stupid Man.

The reality TV villain has been employed as an ‘NPL [National Premier Leagues] Victoria commentator with Football Victoria across live streams’ since 2018 according to his profile.

The NPL is Australia’s the second tier soccer competition, below the A-League.

The reveal comes after Bryce abruptly resigned from his HIT 104.7 afternoon show in Canberra last month and moved to Melbourne.

And an unearthed 2010 interview showed Bryce was once torn between acting and his other love: soccer.

‘Soccer is my main priority at the moment, but if it doesn’t work out I will definitely keep pursuing acting,’ the then 20-year-old told The Morning Bulletin.

He also revealed he trained at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) and was a semi-finalist in the 2009 Next New York Model Search.

Meanwhile, Married At First Sight may be investigated by the Australian Communications and Media Authority after outraged viewers filed multiple complaints about the show.

According to a report by The Wash on Monday, many viewers took offence at scenes involving controversial couple Bryce and Melissa.

Speaking to The Wash, ACMA revealed they had received 14 complaints about this year’s season of MAFS, and four of those were about Bryce and Melissa, both 31.

‘Under the co-regulatory system, the ACMA will refer complainants to the broadcaster in the first instance,’ they explained in a statement.

‘If the complainant does not receive a response from the broadcaster within 60 days, or is not satisfied with the response, they may refer their complaint to the ACMA who may choose to investigate.’

According to ACMA, many viewers raised ‘concerns over the scenes involving Melissa and Bryce’.

Bryce and Melissa’s ‘marriage’ has also been an issue of contention for the show’s other couples, who largely disapprove of the relationship.

On Sunday’s episode of Married At First Sight, Bryce humiliated his bride at the show’s commitment ceremony after revealing he initially voted to ‘leave’ the experiment, before ultimately deciding to ‘stay’.

The other couples lashed out at the radio announcer after a string of incidents where he repeatedly showed a disregard for Melissa’s feelings.

But Bryce defended his behaviour in a lengthy post on Instagram on Sunday.

‘People won’t agree with what I’ve done at the commitment ceremony saying I didn’t put my partner’s feelings first BUT I was raising the issue that bullying is not OK in any walk of life,’ he wrote.

‘It was a tough decision to continue in the experiment given what we were going through, but in the end, the goal of finding love with someone will always win.’
