Peter Andre shows off his VERY messy locks as he pleads with Boris Johnson to reopen hairdressers amid third national lockdown

Peter Andre has pleaded for Prime Minister Boris Johnson to reopen hairdressers as he showcased a very messy haircut on Instagram on Sunday.

The singer, 48, reckons he is in desperate need of a trim, as he uploaded a video of his hair looking a far cry from the usual slick style he sports.

Peter looked unimpressed as he gave fans a glimpse of his new look, as The Beatles song Help played in the background.

‘Open the barber’s Boris. @borisjohnsonuk #openthebarbers,’ he wrote.

However, many fans saw the funny side, as one commented: ‘Omg straighten it and embrace the mysterious girl vibe.’

Another added: ‘Looooool. Bro I’m coming to your house NOW!!!’

While one fan sympathised with Peter, adding: ‘Oh Pete, I’m sooo with you. My hair is proper curtains now.’

This is not the first time Peter has made reference to the fact he needs a haircut, after he previously poked fun at Boris Johnson’s own barnet.

Sharing a floppy-haired snap, he captioned the post: ‘It’s not just Boris that needs a haircut. @borisjohnsonuk #openthebarbers @mensincbarbering.’

Currently, hairdressers are expected to open on April 12 as part of the government’s roadmap to get the UK out of lockdown.

Peter’s hair happens to be naturally curly, although he straightens it as a result of cruel comments he received during his childhood.

The star explained he was targeted when he and his Cypriot-Greek family moved from the UK to Australia, where they were the only ‘ethnic’ family around.

Speaking on Lorraine last September, he said: ‘What happened was, moving to Australia – Australia is now so multi-cultural, and so beautiful, but when I first moved to the Gold Coast we were the only ethnic family on the coast.

‘I don’t remember another ethnic family initially, we are talking 35 years ago, and I had the dark hair, the big nose and the English accent – I stood out.

‘We were picked on a lot, initially it was racism – which is a form of bullying – and it wasn’t just calling names, we got beaten pretty bad.

He continued: ‘It scarred me to the point that even now, my hair is naturally curly but I won’t have it curly, I always straighten it.’

‘The reasons I do that is every time I look in the mirror and my hair’s curly… I see what those kids used to call me, so that’s the long-term effect of bullying and it’s really though.’
