Star Wars: Andor filming takes place in Buckinghamshire village

Star Wars new Disney+ series Andor – which focuses on Alliance Intelligence officer Captain Cassian Andor – has been taking place in the leafy Buckinghamshire village of Little Marlow.

New images of the set taken on Wednesday show Empire Stormtroopers lining the streets as a meeting takes place in the centre of the makeshift village, which has been erected in an unused quarry in the area.

There appears to be some sort of stand-off taking place at the centre of the set, which is not unlike many of the Star Wars locations used in the past, including for its most recent project, The Mandalorian.

The set is thought to be for Andor, which is slated for release in summer 2022, and has been built alongside the Spade Oak nature reserve – featuring dozens of houses creating a galactic village.

The filming location was previously linked to another Star Wars series – Obi-Wan Kenobi – however this set can be seen in the behind the scenes’ trailer for the TV show that has been titled Star Wars: Andor.

A fan website called Fantha Tracks has also claimed to have seen ‘public records’ which links the location to the Star Wars franchises’ latest project, Andor.

A huge green crane could be seen looming over the set, which was recently noted by Virgin Radio host Chris Evans during a recent radio show, who said he had spotted the set.

Chris Evans said on Virgin Radio: ‘We think someone is making a major motion picture around the corner of our house but we’re not quite sure.’

‘There seems to be a temporary location and there’s all these illumines signs. ‘They’re usually film location crew signs, that is what they usually are and they are very good at taking them away, by the way.

‘I think someone is making a major motion picture on the banks of the River Thames.’

‘There is a massive crane, there are two actually, we saw a camera on the top of the crane – it’s half a mile back but looks so much closer because there is so much going on.’

He added: ‘There are these huge temporary marquees, they aren’t the one you see at like a country fair. I think they must make them for movies or maybe it’s a Covid thing.

‘Maybe they’ve made massive marquees purely so you can make movies outdoors and be more easily Covid compliant.’

Later on in the show Chris confirmed that he had been told the set was for a new Star Wars show, and said: ‘Guess what they’re filming where I live, the new Star Wars TV show. They’re doing a mega-series, it’s the Star Wars TV show, it’s amazing. It’s very cool, it is opposite the garden centre that we go to! I’m really excited.’

Adria Arjona, 28, has been cast as one of the lead characters in Disney+’s forthcoming Star Wars series based on Rebel agent Cassian Andor [Diego Luna] from the 2016 film Rogue one.

‘I was approached for this project in early 2020 and I sent a self-tape. I was in Paris, shooting a beauty campaign for Armani and they called me and said, “Can you be in London tomorrow?” We want to test you.’

Though her specific role remains unknown, she will star alongside Diego, 40, who is set to reprise his role as Andor, as reported by Deadline.
