Three-time Daytime Emmy winner Sara Gilbert confessed Wednesday that Drew Barrymore was her very first ‘girl kiss’ while on the Los Feliz set of Poison Ivy back in 1991.
The former child stars – now 46 – locked lips in two different scenes in Katt Shea’s erotic thriller, one of which was left on the cutting room floor.
‘I’m not one to kiss and tell,’ Sara said on The Drew Barrymore Show.

‘But I have to say – look now I’m, like, going to blush – Drew was the coolest person I ever met and yeah and that’s what happened.’
Barrymore noted that they technically ‘started practicing in the trailer, which was kind of fun.’
Gilbert – who came out as a lesbian in 2010 – replied: ‘We had to practice, right? It was really just us doing research.’
The Talk creator scored an Independent Spirit Award nomination for her role as lonely teen Sylvie Cooper, who befriends a troubled teen tramp that destroys her family.
Sara said on The Drew Barrymore Show: ‘I’m not one to kiss and tell, but I have to say – look now I’m, like, going to blush – Drew was the coolest person I ever met’

Sara replied: ‘I remember you dancing on the hood of the jeep. Yeah, you were a wild child but in the best possible way. I was impressed and still am.’
Poison Ivy – also starring Tom Skerritt and Cheryl Ladd – only grossed $1.8M and earned dismal reviews, but remains a cult classic and spawned three direct-to-video sequels.

Speaking of the nineties, Gilbert (born Abeles) also appears in Soleil Moon Frye’s critically-acclaimed documentary Kid 90, which started streaming March 12 on Hulu.
The Yale grad also executive produces and continues her role as Darlene Conner-Healy in the third season of The Conners, which airs Wednesdays on ABC.
‘There aren’t a lot of stories on television about working-class families trying to break the cycle of poverty, trying to get ahead,’ Sara explained.
