Her character on Insecure has done all she can to pay her rent and keep the lights on.

But it seems like Issa Rae won’t have to worry about money for years to come.

The talented 36-year-old star stunned as she is featured on the cover of the latest issue of Variety as it was revealed in the pages of the publication that she had signed an overall deal with WarnerMedia that’s valued at $40 million over five years.

The front of the magazine teased ‘the next chapter’ which will expand her reach across the conglomerate’s properties.

When asked why she signed on for five more years after spending a lot of her career at HBO she quipped: ‘They wifed me up.’ 

The partnership is extensive as HBO, HBO Max, and Warner Bros. television has the exclusive rights to all of Rae’s work on television.

There is also a first-look film deal that spans WarnerMedia brands, including Warner Bros. Pictures Group, New Line and HBO Max.

Issa – whose full name is Jo-Issa Rae Diop – looked gorgeous on the front of the publication as she kneeled wearing a beige trench coat by Coach along with strappy silver stilettos by Christian Louboutin 

Her curly brunette tresses were pulled back in a ponytail as she accentuated her natural looks with complementary make-up topped off with shiny lip.

Earlier this year it was announced that Rae’s highly-popular HBO show Insecure is coming to an end after a fifth and final season.

Regarding the end of the series, Issa told Variety: ‘I always knew I was going to do these five seasons.

‘Now that it’s coming to an end, and we’re shooting, I have no regrets. But there’s an element of knowing I’m going to miss this, and I don’t want to take this for granted. There’s no feeling like doing your first TV show and doing it with people who are also fresh with you, and growing and building with them.’

The Emmy nominated comedy debuted in 2016 and shows a Black female experience as two best friends navigate life, love and careers after college.

Based on her web series, Awkward Black Girl, Issa created the series with Larry Wilmore and worked alongside showrunner Prentice Penny. 

No doubt it has been an interesting time for Issa as it is both an emotional and exciting time in her career as she explained: ‘In some ways, I’m saying RIP to that old version of myself and simultaneously, while terrified, excited about what the next chapter looks like.’ 

 It’s unclear when the final season will air, but production began back in January as Issa shared an image of herself waving goodbye on set.
