Singer Guy Sebastian renews his contract with Sony Music – and reveals he’s excited for the next chapter in their partnership

Guy Sebastian has renewed his agreement with Sony Music Entertainment Australia.

The new long-term recording deal will take the 39-year-old into his second decade with the label, after signing on in 2003.

The agreement will also see the formation of a new joint venture label, where the former X Factor judge will discover and develop talent across the nation.

Speaking to Media Week, Guy said he was excited about the ‘next chapter’ and was ‘humbled at the success’ he’s had with Sony Music Entertainment Australia over the years.

‘Sony Music is a unique label that has always nurtured my talent as well as supporting my creative freedom,’ he said.

‘I am humbled at the success we have had with my music and repertoire in Australia and globally, and I am so excited for this next chapter in our partnership.

‘A big thank you to all my fans and the industry at large; without their love and loyalty towards me and my music, I wouldn’t be here today.’

Information of the new label between Guy and Sony Music Entertainment Australia will be released in coming weeks.

It will add to Guy’s success of achieving six number one singles, three number one albums, more than 720million streams globally and being reognised with 42 Platinum certifications nationwide, Media Week reported.

It will also come as Guy returns to The Voice Australia as a coach, before embarking on a national tour later this year – in November and December.
