A maths teacher was left baffled after ordering seven calculators with her online Morrisons shop, only to receive the same amount of chicken and pasta bakes.
Alison Jagger, 28, from Wakefield, West Yorkshire, added the devices for her secondary school students as part of her online food order from Morrisons.
But she was left completely confused when her groceries arrived and she realised her desired item had been substituted for seven ready meals.
Sharing the hilarious mishap to Twitter, she penned: ‘When you order 7 calculators from Morrisons and they send you 7 chicken and bacon pasta bakes instead as a substitution?’

Morrisons were quick to respond to her post, writing: ‘Ermmm, wow. I’m not sure how this happened Mrs Jagger.
‘Can you DM us with your order number, email address, postcode and contact number along with a copy of your tweet so we can try figure what went on here.’
Alison told the Mirror that she was buying calculators becauase there was a shortage in years 7-9 at the school where she teaches, after older students were given individual calculators due to Covid-19 so that they don’t have to share.
The maths teacher said she saw calculators on offer for £2.50 on Morrisons, via Amazon Prime, and decided to order as many as she could when she saw the ‘really good’ deal.
She quipped: ‘Now I need to find some scientific calculators that are as good value as those were.
‘I don’t think the pasta will be much good for calculating angles in pie charts with Year 9 on Wednesday!’

Morrisons were quick to respond to her post, and Alison later confirmed that has been given a full refund for the calculators while Morrisons have also let her keep the pasta bakes
Taking to Twitter, Alison claimed that her husband did try to explain to the delivery driver that they had ‘ordered calculators’, but they were told to ‘contact customer support’.
But Alison confirmed that she has since been given a full refund for the calculators while Morrisons have also let her keep the pasta bakes.

While other people shared their own supermarket substitution stories, with one person hilariously admitting they had had one received a Twix bar instead of Tampons.
One person wrote: ‘I’ve checked their potential substitutions list before and it is the weirdest thing.
‘Like “if we don’t have your stir fry veg, here’s a packet of salt and vinegar crisps” or “no toilet roll? How about a birthday card?”‘

Another said: ‘Many moons ago we ordered some very small nappies for our then newborn daughter.
‘Another well known supermarket substituted nappies for 9-12 month old babies. We just kept them for a year or so….’

‘Also know someone who ordered Tampax who received twix! Having 2 letters the same doesn’t really help.’
And a fourth quipped: ‘Use a penne and paper.’
After one person said it had to be a ‘joke’, Alison hilariously responded: ‘It’s real. Took me and my husband by surprise.
‘Think my students will be more surprised on Monday when they ask for a calculator and I throw pasta at them.’
