The schoolboy was playing near the river with a peer when the incident happened.

The kids said they secretly fled the courtyard near their apartment block and went to the river and climbed on ice.

The curious friends were inspecting the ice when it started cracking under their feet.

One of them managed to jump to safety but the other got stranded on a drifting ice floe and was carried 65 feet (20 metres) away from the shore.

Fortunately, the incident was noticed by two men who were fishing nearby and they came to help.

Mr Gorda shared the video on his Facebook page commenting: ‘Luckily, we turned out to be in the right place and at the right time.

‘The fact that I cast [the spinning rod] and hit at once is God’s mercy.

‘I might have had no time for another try. The ice piece was cracking under that boy.

‘The child didn’t even get wet or anything, he’s safe and sound but he will learn that lesson for life.

‘Watch out for your children and never allow them approaching [icy] water.’

Police are investigating the incident.
