“I just wanted to do something really special for the woman I love,” he said.

The couple celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary in May 2020, and share four children.

‘I asked her to marry me again,’ Shannon told the radio hosts, adding he gave Rochelle a new ring from Simon Curwood Jewellers to mark the special occasion.

Shannon told the radio hosts the pair had planned to host a recommitment ceremony at a chapel on Queensland’s Hamilton Island, but covid-19 border closures had made things tricky.

The proud father said the second wedding will be a family affair, with the intention of involving sons Cody, 19, Blake, 18, and Colton, 2, and daughter Sienna, 14.

‘We were going to get the boys dressed up to be the best men and out daughter was going to be the matron of honour,’ he added.

When asked why Shannon and Rochelle chose to recommit after 17 years of marriage, the former Australian Idol star said they’d entered ‘a different place’ in the relationship over the past few years.

‘With the little fella coming along, it’s been a bit of a turning point,’ the What About Me singer said.

Shannon was also on the show to promote his collaboration with Simon Curwood Jewellers on a competition offering lucky winners with the chance to have him perform live as a wedding singer.
