Lauren Alaina pulls out of concert appearance in Kentucky due to positive COVID-19 diagnosis: ‘I am quarantining and trying to get better!’

Although coronavirus cases dropping and vaccinations increasing, the pandemic is still very much a cause for concern.

And country star Lauren Alaina was forced to cancel a planned concert appearance in Lexington, Kentucky on Saturday due to a positive coronavirus test result.

Alaina, 26, tweeted out to her fans that she is ‘so sad’ she will not be at the highly anticipated acoustic show, which was scheduled for that evening at the Rupp Arena.

‘I tested positive for COVID yesterday. I am quarantining and trying to get better!

‘Please know I can’t wait to be back,’ she continued, ‘when it is safe for all of us. I am so disappointed I won’t be at the show, but it may help cheer me up a bit if you go and send me videos and pictures.’ 

She then asked fans to ‘go to the show tonight and celebrate’ her friends John Pardi, Jordan Davis, Travis Denning and Priscilla Block.

Lauren, the American Idol season 10 runner up, also took to her Instagram stories Saturday, in a selfie video on the couch with her dog resting on her lap.

The singer was clearly ill, and shared a little bit about the symptoms she was experiencing.

‘I am resting up and trying to feel a bit better,’ Lauren said through sniffles. ‘Some people have it way worse than me — I just have a little bit of shortness of breath, a really bad headache, no taste or smell, pretty bad congestion and I feel pretty tired.’

The songbird concluded on a positive note, saying she was confident she’ll be ok, especially with such an adorable and furry ‘nurse,’ indicating her brown poodle.

According to the Kentucky state website, 731 new cases of COVID-19 were reported on Friday alone. The positivity rate was pegged at 3.40 percent.

As of this coming Monday, all residents in the state aged 50 and over will be able to sign up for a vaccine appointment.
