Justin Bieber has credited his wife Hailey for helping him out of a dark place last year.

Speaking in an interview ahead of the release of his new album Justice, Justin said that he has come up against many challenges in the last 12 months that left him feeling ‘unstable’.

But the 27-year-old singer revealed that Hailey helped him get his life back on track after the difficult patch.

Speaking to The Sun, he said: ‘One of the tracks on the album is called Unstable, and for me its a really emotional song because I was in a really, really bad place maybe a year ago.

‘Fortunately my wife was just there for me through it all and so the whole message of the song is ‘You loved me when I was unstable’.

‘She really held me down and you know just continued to love me through a really challenging, hard season that I’d been in – so the person in the song that was me.’

He went on to explain that the song Unstable really ‘resonates with where he was at’ and that his goal is to be ‘relatable’ as he thinks other people will have been ‘in the same position’.

The hitmaker added that it is only human to have moments when you think ‘will things ever get back to normal?’ and feel ‘unstable’.

He said he thinks it’s important to talk about the ‘struggles’ in his life as well as the ‘lovey-dovey stuff’ that goes on with his wife.

Referencing the pandemic, Justin explained how many people have been in difficult positions in the last year, from losing jobs and loved-ones to having their whole lives ‘turned upside down’.

He said he hopes that his new album can provide some kind of ‘reprieve’ from any difficult feelings people may have.

It comes after Hailey said on Thursday that she could see herself and her husband Justin being together forever.

The 24-year-old model is adamant she will make her marriage to the singer go the distance as she is willing to put in the work to ensure they grow old together.

Speaking to the new April issue of ELLE magazine, of which she is the cover star, Hailey reflected on tying the knot at the ‘insanely young’ age of 21 and how she handled the online abuse from her husband’s fanbase.

‘I learn new things about him and about myself and about our relationship all the time. Do we have little fights and stuff that we have to work through sometimes? Yeah, of course, but it really doesn’t ever feel like work, because I love him so much. I see forever with him,’ Hailey said.

‘I think any relationship can fail, Hollywood or not. Is it harder in the public eye? Absolutely,’ she continued. ‘But I think the two of us are grounded by our faith. I’m not saying it’s this easy-peasy thing that doesn’t take work. We talk to a therapist. We do what we have to do.’

The couple tied the knot in a small ceremony in 2018 with a lavish second wedding the following year in South Carolina.

And, although the catwalk star thinks marrying at the age of 21 was ‘ridiculous’, she believes her fame has made her experience things at a younger age.

She explained: ‘I mean, I was married when I was 21, two months before I turned 22, which is insanely young. And sounds almost ridiculous when you say it out loud. Although I do think for somebody like me and somebody like Justin, [it’s different]. We’ve seen a lot for our age. We have both lived enough life to know that’s what we wanted.’

What’s more, Hailey – whose father is actor Stephen Baldwin – felt like she lost her ‘anonymity’ at the beginning of her marriage as everyone wanted to know about their relationship.

She added: ‘In the beginning of our marriage, I just wanted to hide. I was like, ‘I don’t want people so In my business. I feel like everybody’s up my a**.’ I was like, ‘Can there be no anonymity? Can I have any of it back?’

She was also mercilessly bullied online by legions of devoted Justin fans, dubbed Beliebers, which forced Hailey to turn off her public Instagram comments.

The move could actually harm her social media engagement and standing which is a large part of her career as an influencer but Bieber said it was worth it.

‘I remember someone telling me that [turning off the public comments] really lowers your engagement,’ she explained. ‘And I was like, ‘I could give a f**k about engagement! People are terrorizing me. Engagement, enschagement. I don’t care!’
