Rangers players appeared to complain that Glen Kamara had been called ‘a f***ing monkey’ by Slavia Prague’s Ondrej Kudela in footage from their Europa League tie as tensions flared during their clash at Ibrox.

The tie was marred by a bust-up between both sides after Kamara claimed he was racially abused by the Czech centre-back during a heated game that saw the Gers reduced to nine men – with UEFA quickly opening an investigation into the incident.

Slavia officials have defended Kudela, claiming he was ‘cowardly beaten with fists in the face by Kamara’ in the tunnel after the full time whistle, with the player himself denying any racist abuse and insisting he told the player he was ‘a f***ing guy’.

But in a clip of the incident inside the empty stadium, Kamara’s team-mate Bongani Zungu can be heared relaying to the Rangers bench about Kudela’s alleged racial slur as both sets of players continued to clash.

The footage shows Kudela whispering into Kamara’s ear, with the midfielder immediately reacting and pointing to the centre-back – immediately walking over to confront the player before his team-mates become involved in tense discussions with their opponents.

South African international Zungu then backs away from the group bust-up and can be heard shouting ‘Hey, he said f***ing monkey’, to the dugout.

Gers boss Steven Gerrard has thrown his backing behind Kamara and urged UEFA to act quickly and swiftly to come down hard on Kudela, who insists he ‘completely rejects racism’.

Speaking to the media after the game, as reported by Czech outlet Sport, Kudela said: ‘I told him “You’re a f***ing guy”.

‘It was said in emotions after two red cards and a series of brutal interventions by an opponent, but I completely reject racism.’
