Elvis has left the building! Austin Butler struggles with his large load of luggage as he leaves Queensland after wrapping filming on Baz Luhrmann’s Presley biopic

Austin Butler has been in Australia last year to film Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis Presley biopic. 

Shooting has now wrapped on the project in Queensland, and the Hollywood actor, 29, is heading home.   

On Friday, the star stepped left the apartment block he called a home away from home, baggage in hand.

Austin was overloaded with several large bags as he waited for a chauffeur to assist him on his trip home. 

He appears seems to have developed a good relationship with staff at the apartment block. 

Before leaving, he cheerfully shook hands with and exchanged friendly smiles with several hotel workers.

Ahead of his flight back to the US, Austin kept his look casual as he sported some loose brown trousers. 

The Once Upon A Time…In Hollywood star teamed the trousers with a white and navy pin-striped shirt.

The naturally blonde actor is clearly till attached to the iconic subject matter of his latest project, as appeared to be still be donning Elvis’ slicked back brunette ‘do.

In order to play the King of Rock N Roll, the American actor enlisted the help of a Gold Coast trainer to replicate the late singer’s build, and work on hip mobility exercises to master Elvis’ iconic moves.  

In February, strength and conditioning coach and former Olympic swimmer Ryan Gambin told The Courier-Mail: ‘He was already in really good shape. I think they are going for mainly the 1950s look for Elvis.’

Gambin said the actor was training three times per week at his CMBT training centre in Miami when filming was on hold, and trained in costume between takes on set. 

Tom Hanks will also star as Elvis’ [Butler] notorious manager, Colonel Tom Parker. 

The film is expected to be released in cinemas in 2022.
