The Princess Diaries star Erik von Detten announces the arrival of his second child and first son

The Princess Diaries star Erik von Detten and his wife Angela welcome their second child together… a baby boy named Thomas

Erik von Detten and his wife Angela have given their daughter a little brother, as they added a new baby boy to their family on Thursday morning.

A representative for the actor spoke to E! News and confirmed that the former actor, who is known for his role in The Princess Diaries, and his spouse were now the parents of two children.

The rep also revealed that the child’s name is Thomas and explained that the happy parents chose the name because it had repeatedly appeared in both of their lives.

‘Thomas is Erik’s middle name, and his father-in-law’s first name,’ the representative noted.  

Prior to his son’s arrival, the Toy Story voice actor told the media outlet that he would like for his daughter, aged one, to have a younger brother.

Von Detten said, ‘To have your first child be one gender and then the second child be the opposite gender, I think is just such a gift.

‘Not to say that I’d be disappointed if I got another girl, but at the same time, I think it’s going to be a phenomenal experience,’ he added.

The teenage heartthrob also commented that his wife was ‘born to have babies.’

The 38-year-old former actor and his wife welcomed their first child in May of 2019, less than a year after they tied the knot in August of the previous year.

The Disney Channel alum announced his daughter’s birth on Instagram, and the couple regularly share pictures of their child, whom they named Claire Elizabeth, on their respective accounts.  

Von Detten spoke about the circumstances regarding his daughter’s birth and commented that his wife’s delivery was not as difficult as they had expected.

The voice actor noted, ‘Our first birth with our daughter, we got to the hospital at, like, 10 p.m. They gave her the epidural and then we went to sleep and she woke up and had the baby an hour later.

‘It was the smoothest pregnancy,’ he concluded.

The commodity broker also joked that his children would be forced to watch every movie that had performed in during his acting career, which lasted for just over two decades. 

Von Detten remarked, ‘It’s going to be like mandatory watching…Every evening before they go to bed, they’re going to have to watch one of the old flicks.’
