Delta Goodrem reveals shocking alcohol confession

Delta Goodrem reveals shocking alcohol confession – one week after postponing her Australian tour dates

She’s the Australian singer who was thrust into the limelight when her debut single, Born to Try, topped the charts at the tender age of 18.

And Delta Goodrem revealed her stratospheric rise to fame was so consuming, that she didn’t get to try her first alcoholic beverage until she was 27.

‘I’d worked from such a young age that it wasn’t until my late twenties that I finally started to have my teenage years,’ she told The Daily Telegraph on Thursday.

She added: ‘I had so much going on in my teens there wasn’t really the space to have a few drinks and have my friends look after me.

‘But in my late twenties I had that period of self-discovery, things had started to get a bit much for me around that time.’

Delta’s revelation comes after she was forced to postpone her Australian tour.

Last week, the songstress announced she moved the dates from April to September because she does not feel it is safe to hold a concert amid the pandemic.

In an Instagram post, Delta wrote: ‘Performing live shows and being together in the one room with my fans means so much to me.

‘Since we announced the tour, my priority has always been the safety and health of fans, crew and venue staff and we remain committed to ensuring the indoor concert experience is the safest and absolute best it can be,’ she said.

The blonde beauty went on to explain why there was no other choice but to push the dates back until later this year.

‘We’ve given this a tremendous amount of thought and whilst we are incredibly optimistic of how things are improving, out of an abundance of caution and to be certain of the best experience for fans coming to the shows and all of the staff and crew working on the tour, we’ve made the difficult decision to move the tour to September and October.

‘We are greatly encouraged by the improvement in the national touring outlook and whilst I would love to be touring in April, we believe that waiting an extra few months will put our hearts and minds beyond doubt.’

The Born to Try singer added: ‘I am overwhelmed with the support of people coming to the shows, so hang on to your tickets.

‘I cannot wait to bring this tour to life and for it to be a huge celebratory night of fun, music, love and light.’

On hold: Delta will also push back the release of her seventh album - she last released a Christmas album in November 2020, and her previous effort, Wings of the Wild, was released in 2016
