Bridgerton has NOT started filming Season 2… with Luke Newton’s Instagram photos merely throwback snaps from Season 1

Bridgerton star Luke Newton inadvertently sent fans into a frenzy after he posted photos from the set of the Netflix drama series.

Many implied from the photos, and his cryptic caption – ‘The boys are back in town’ – that filming is under way on Season 2 of the series.

That turns out not to be the case, as co-star Nicola Coughlan said filming hasn’t started yet, while Newton ultimately edited his post, adding the hashtags #THROWBACK and #SEASON1 to avoid any confusion.

The photos featured Newton, who plays Colin Bridgerton on the hit series, and Jonathan Bailey, who plays his older brother Anthony on the show.

The photos featured the pair chatting while on horseback and goofing off between takes, including a video on set.

After several media outlets started running stories that Season 2 had started filming, based on those photos, Coughlan set the record straight on Twitter.

‘Not yet! Wigs and dresses yet to be made but soon!’ Coughlan said, clearing the air about the production start.

While production has not yet started, casting is most certainly under way, with Netflix announcing a new character last month.
